LOVE / HATE

Shoes. The types you either love or hate.

Studded leather loafers, Steve Madden

Wedge ankle boots, Easyspirit by Nine West

I know these won't be to everyone's taste but they have been my staples for the oddly warm winter (ranging from 12-22'C, 19'C yesterday) in Hong Kong.

Back in the UK, more controversial footwear in the form of a surprise Christmas present from le boyfriend awaits me (U to the double Gs).

What has everyone been wearing on their feet during these cold winter months?

These boots are made for walkin'

This video is totally irrelevant except for the song at the beginning. I love Sienna's style as well as her brand Twenty 8 Twelve... However, she reminds me a little of the horrible girls that I went to boarding school with. I think she'd be nicer than those girls though. It's funny how school bullies AKA the "popular" crowd think they are SUPAH FLY but when it comes to school finishing and uni beginning, they're always the ones that end up with trashy facebook photos of them smoking and wearing "gap year clothing" (i.e. oversized rags) and tons of shoddily applied make up. I digress.

-------------------------

My Dr Marten Darla boots arrived today and I ADORE them. (Incidentally, my Topshop daisy jeans arrived too but they are basically made out of cardboard and feel nothing like the supple denim shorts in the same pattern that I loved. Returning!).

They are so gawd dang comfortable because the heel isn't too high and the stretchy panels on the side keep the boot securely in place. I kinda get a vibe of those Topshop ankle booties that everyone and their momma had except that these are a little bit longer. They have a padded insole and a rubbery sole and they are just generally kick-ass.

Speaking of kick-ass,

Found in the men's section of a charity shop on Goodge Street.
Do men have size 4 feet? I guess men includes boys.

Vivienne Westwood x Melissa

I think the idea is cute - Melissa's eco friendly policies with Vivienne Westwood's Anglomania style. I've seen these before in person and they didn't really appeal but now that I look at them again, the jellyness and that bauble is mesmerising.

Jelly shoe goodness or Plasticky badness?
Does anyone actually own these?

Love,
Geisha xoxo

GIVEAWAY - Reebok EasyTone shoes and kit!

This awesome giveaway presented to you by GEISHAROCK with the help of:

I'm sure you will all have seen some sort of variation on these adverts in your favourite magazines and gazed enviously at her effortlessly summer-ready body...

Time to wake up and stop dreaming because Reebok has kindly given one of my readers the opportunity to be a trialist of their new EasyTone(tm) shoes!

What's the hype all about? Well, I'll take their description from the Reebok website first:

---------------------------------------------

Look out, sharp curves ahead.

The EasyTone Curve, built on Reebok’s patented muscle-toning sole technology, creates a slight instability, much like walking on sand.

They encourage toning through increased muscle activation in three key areas of the leg: the gluteus maximus, hamstrings and calves. Up to 28%, in fact.

Like we said, sharp curves ahead.
  • EasyTone balance pod technology encourages up to 11% more toning in the hamstrings and calves, and up to 28% in the glutes

  • Synthetic/mesh upper for comfort, support and breathability

  • Dual density medial post provides superior stability, while adjustable heel strap reduces heel slippage

  • SmoothFit design ensures minimal rub and ultimate comfort

---------------------------------------------

Another example of a pair of EasyTone gym shoes.

And DEFINITELY have a look at their super-techie EasyTone microsite which has a cool interactive video of a girl going through her day with her EasyTones.

Watch the TV clips for more inspiration and information :)

---------------------------------------------

What's so special about EasyTones (in my humble opinion)?

Reebok has developed these shoes to help us all tone up for summer! Studies have shown that the balance ball-inspired technology at the heel and forefoot of the shoe give the effect of walking on soft ground and this encourages increased gluteal, hamstring and calves muscle activity.

To cut a long story short, these shoes will help tone up your butt, legs and calves!

...Or as Reebok say themselves:
"Better legs and a better butt with every step"

---------------------------------------------

THE GIVEAWAY
(what ya'll have been reading for)

Reebok has given me the opportunity to give away a trialist kit to one of my readers!

This kit will include a pair of EasyTone trainers and a training kit which includes a 2 gym tops (one tank top style and one zip up/hoodie style), a pair of gym pants, a gym bag and a pedometer.

Unfortunately for overseas readers, this is only open to UK readers & those from the Republic of Ireland.

All you need to do to enter is:

(a) Follow me - Google friend connect, bloglovin' or just via your blogroll.

(b) Leave a comment under this entry with your email address OR send me an email with "Reebok competition" in the subject line at lebilletdoux (at) gmail (dot) com - I would love it if you could share what your favourite type of workout/exercise is too!

(P.S. If you leave your email address in the form geisha (at) gmail (dot) com, rather than geisha@gmail.com, you're less likely to get spam mail)

---------------------------------------------

Once I randomly select a winner (who will be trialing the EasyTone shoes and kit along with me), I will send you details of how to sign up on the Reebok EasyTone website and how to get your trialist kit!

The idea is to give Reebok feedback on how you feel about the Easytone shoes and they have been so generous to give us bloggers the opportunity to try them out.

A huge thank you to Reebok and all the lovely people who have contacted me about this opportunity!

SHE'S MY CHERRY PIE

I know this is seriously old news but...

Lara Stone...

is dating David Walliams???

An unlikely pairing in my opinion!

But maybe I'm just too besotted with the gorgeous Bardot-lookalike Lara and I'm jealous ;-)

....OR maybe I've just watched too much Little Britain and cannot take this man seriously!

-------------------------------------

Anyway, I have another shoe-related question to ask you - my lovely discerning fashionable fellow bloggers.

I have bought these:

But I am wondering whether I should have bought these:

Thoughts?

Which will be more useful generally? I'm torn. I know the boots are the practical choice but I've wanted those high heel hiking boots for ages. But I've also wanted the bottom pair for ages. Spring/Summer might suit the flat ankle boots better? Although the heels would also last me. Maybe I should just buy both... If only I had the funds!!

Hugs & kisses,
Z xoxo

HELP ME CHOOSE SOME NEW SHOES

The problem is simple. My name is Zara and I'm a shoe-aholic.

--------------

Now that that's over with, I need you guys to help me choose a new shoe purchase!! I'm bored with my huge shoe collection and want something shiny and new to entertain me.

I'm feeling the urge to splurge. The question is, which shoe?

-------------

THE CONTENDERS:

(1) Sam Edelman Zoe Boot

PROS: SEXY HOT AMAZING TO DIE FOR

CONS: Expensive. I mean, these retailed at around $100 when they first came out and are now selling for well over $300. So, same quality, mucho inflated price? Has anyone bought these recently? Can anyone vouch as to whether the quality + style + comfort is worth the money?

(2), (3), (4) Various boots from Clarks

PROS: Sensible, will definitely get a lot of wear out of them, practical, cheapest.

CONS: Not as exciting and sexy as other choices.

(5a) Leather, thigh high, FLAT boots from Topshop

PROS: Amazing

Cons: Do I need these? How will I rock them?
(5b) Thigh high, heeled boots from Topshop

PROS: Amazing

CONS: Pretty woman? HOW will I rock them???

(6) Christopher Kane for Topshop

PROS: Amazing enough to possibly fill the void in my heart left by the Sam Edelmans.

CONS: Impractical? Do I really need another pair of heels?

(7) and (8) Ashish for Topshop

PROS: Amazing. Black or leopard?

CONS: Impractical, especially for a uni student living a fair commute from uni (me).

(9) Topshop chelsea ankle boots

PROS: Again, amazing enough to possibly fill the Sam Edelman-shaped gap in my heart.

CONS: Again, impractical for my student life which involves commuting to and from uni.

--------------------------------

I'm also open to other suggestions! Nothing too expensive though :)

Love,
Z xoxo
