CHAINS AND GLITTER SPRINKLED CUPCAKES

EVENT: Westfield shopping mall's 1st anniversary celebrations in Shepherd's Bush, London

**** DJs blaring out crowd-pleasing numbers (Cheryl Cole's "Fight for your love"... you know you love it), Beverly Knight making an appearance to sing songs from her new album and girls on rollerskates handing out cute cupcakes with pink icing, edible glitter and marzipan "W"s on them! ****

I got my sister to take a close up of the suede panels on my jacket for my homegirl Denise who asked for detailed pictures :)

In the COS changing room - this is the dress I wore under the Topshop leather - it's from Comptoir des Cotonniers, one of my favourite shops for chic, good quality clothing. Click the picture for a close up of the detail on the front. Sorry its so crumpled... I never iron my clothes!!

My boots are from ebay.

Trying on some dresses in COS - this slinky navy blue number had interesting shoulder draping.

Tried on this rad top, the chain detail blew me away!! However, like all the clothing/shoes/accessories I'm drawn to, it wasn't very practical though as the chains were SO COLD and heavy!! The top was literally weighing me down.

Will tell you guys about the Dia de los Muertos party soon :) It was really fun and involved some "Tequila Torture" which really got the night going...!

SHINY NEW LEATHER JACKET

the magic of topshop + the softest leather i've ever touched + the last one in the store in my size
= irresistable.

it has gorgeous suede panels on the shoulders and is made of the SOFTEST, MOST BUTTERY LEATHER I HAVE EVER FONDLED. i was stalking it on the topshop website and watched doefully as it sold out then vanished altogether so coming across this one was a sign... obviously. or just an excuse for me to buy another leather jacket!

i wore this outfit to go on a night out on the town :) it's been surprisingly warm lately!

necklace - oasis
shirt dress - boutique in hong kong
leather booties - new look

LAST BUT NOT LEAST... party time this wednesday - if any londoners are reading this, check out the dia de los muertos ball at PROUD in camden (click for a link to tickets).

Maxi Jazz and Sister Bliss from Faithless will be joined by Mr C, Russ Cuban, Daisy Heartbreaker as well as a traditional live Mexican mariachi band at this fancy dress ball celebrating the Mexican festival Day of the Dead.

There will also be Mexican burlesque, traveling performance gypsies, fortune-telling Frida, everything you ever wanted to know about embalming, tequila torture, and enough tricks and treats and flirts and curses to fill up the annoying part of the brain that always demands more.

Yes, the word hedonism shall be redefined as we all see the night through. This is one not to be missed.

And it's all for a good cause. Tickets are just £10 with all proceeds going to Mencap's work with people with a learning disability and their families and carers.

i am DEFINITELY going so buy your tickets PRONTO and i'll see you guys there?

WINTER WISHES

I'm so sorry that I've been absolutely CRAP at posting ANYTHING lately... I've just been so busy with settling into my masters course and trying to run a household of inept babies whilst my aunt is away. I mean I seriously feel like a housewife.

Quoting my father: "You better ring someone and ask them how to take out the rubbish bins because I sure as hell don't know how to"

This is what happens when you get spoilt with domestic help your whole life! I'm missing blogging sooo much. I've actually been wearing interesting outfits lately but I never get a chance to snap a picture! Poor show.

Winter is definitely approaching and I'm stupidly excited about (a) Halloween, (b) My birthday (early November) and (c) Christmas. Any birthday presents would be most gratefully received ;)
Don't judge me on the Ugg lookalikes - they are fitflop Mukluks and aside from being ridiculously comfortable, they are supposed to tone your bum as you walk! Dubious but I have been wearing them as much as I can get away with :)

Miss you all, I promise I haven't vanished!

Topshop basics

I didn't go too crazy in the Topshop 20% student shop as I was mainly looking for birthday presents for my sister. I couldn't resist a few basic pieces though and came away with:

  • The cropped stripe t-shirt is super comfy and has little shoulder pads - adorable!
  • The slouchy grey long sleeve tee has buttons up the back - I love pairing it with dressy skirts and heels to make everything more casual - very MK.
  • This isn't the exact print I got but the drapey shape is the same - I want to wear it with bodycon dresses to make a more slouchy silhouette for day.
  • This pink flannel shirt was so soft and comfy and a bit more low key than other plaid shirts - I tried on a more typical plaid coloured shirt (blue/green/red) but it just looked a little TOO plaid to be a tongue in cheek fashion item.
--------------------

ALSO.. I tried on the thigh high boots and saw this guy laughing openly at me as I paraded around in them. So obviously, I looked hot, hahaha. But in all seriousness, I decided against them because I have both suede and leather slightly-over-the-knee boots that I love but do not wear enough and any new ones would just have contributed to that pile. Plus, living an hour away from university means that I can't wear silly impractical shoes as often as before! C'est la vie.

----------------

Sorry about the lack of outfit pictures - I just haven't had time to take pictures of myself recently! This masters course is proving to be pretty hard to settle into..

Hugs and kisses to all my readers - thank you for making this all worthwhile! It's so gratifying to have (virtual) people who appreciate fashion and who don't stare weirdly when I wear too many studded/leather/crocodile emblazoned items of clothing all at once!

THIGH HIGH BOOTS

1. Should I buy a pair?
2. If so, leather/suede?
3. Flat/heeled?

(image from Topshop)

I'm already psyched about wearing them with skirts and dresses as a second layer of leg warmth. The first question up there is probably a little irrelevant as I'm already imagining myself in them...

---------------

This weekend has involved:
  • 2 sleepovers at different friends houses.
  • A night of crazy clubbing underneath a thai restaurant.
  • Chinese food and bubble tea at 4am in London's Chinatown.
  • Drunkenly washing my few items of clothing with apricot scented organic body wash.
  • Having girly conversations until dusk becomes dawn.
  • A huge (theoretically) detoxifying salad from Whole Foods.
  • Sifting through the 100's of emails I've received from Freshers Fayre clubs and deciding which clubs I actually want to commit to. Horse-riding and salsa are the main contenders.

My new favourite dress: Topshop, Boots: Nine West
